April 2, 1917-June 10, 2006
Irene Ida Wilhelmina Hynes, 89, of rural Nevada, died Saturday, June 10, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada due to internal bleeding. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at United Methodist Church in Nevada, with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Irene Ida Wilhelmina Hynes was born April 2, 1917, in Hardin County to Ernest and Grace (Hein) Lehmeier. She married James W. Hynes in December 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She enjoyed the agricultural lifestyle, raising geese and helping with the farmland, as well as employment by R. H. Donnelley's in Nevada and Benson Optical and Bourns in Ames. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Nevada. She enjoyed antiques, collectibles and setting up at flea markets. She loved all animals, especially cats, dogs and birds.

She is survived by one son, Larry Hynes of Mexico, Mo.; one daughter, Jolene Hynes of Ames; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on July 16, 1984; one son, John, at age 52; and two daughters Linda, at age 31, and Sandra, in infancy.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Story County Animal Center in Nevada.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
