Irene Lillian Ditmarson
Irene Lillian Ditmarson, 85, of Willmar formerly of Nevada died Friday, May 19, 2006 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
She was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Woods Township, Chippewa County, to Walter and Lillian (Walleen) Hultgren. She grew up in Woods Township, where she attended country school, and she graduated from Kerkhoven High School. She helped on the family farm.
She married H. Curtis Ditmarson on Aug. 2, 1942, in Idaho. Following Curtis' military career, the couple farmed near Hawick for many years and later moved to Nevada, Iowa. They spent a short time in Fargo, N.D. They returned to Kandiyohi County, living on West Norway Lake. Irene began working at Herberger's in Willmar and retired at the age of 75. She had been a resident of Centennial Square in Willmar for the past eight years.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer and active in ladies circle.
She is survived by her children: Linda (and Scott) Nelson of Spicer, Rebeca Saldana of Lamar, Colo., David (and Linde) Ditmarson of Willmar, Daniel Ditmarson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Joyce (and Jim) Peters of Raymond and James Hultgren of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; daughter: Sharon; four brothers; and one sister.
