THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, May 9, 2006.

Bill Lamont, 30, died Saturday, May 6, at Kansas City, Mo., Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. His friends and family remember him as a loyal and caring son, brother and friend.

Bill was born Oct. 31, 1975, in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Ames High School in 1993. He then attended the University of Iowa where he received a bachelor of business administration degree in 1997. While attending the University of Iowa, he was very active in the Delta Upsilon fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. After graduation, he worked for Sprint Corporation in Overland Park, Kan., in various financial positions. While working for Sprint, he obtained a master of business administration degree from the University of Kansas in 2002. He also participated in several charitable activities and events including volunteering at the Restart Homeless Shelter. He enjoyed traveling with friends and sport activities.

He is survived his parents, John and Kitty Lamont of Ames; one sister Kathryn of Rochester, Minn.; and one aunt, Marilyn Fisher of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Collegiate United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Adams Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's name to the Kansas City Hospice Foundation, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114 (816-363-2600).
