THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, May 9, 2006.

Connie Peter, 52, of Osage, and a native of Roland, died Monday, May 8, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

Connie Peter, 52, of Osage and originally from Roland, died Monday, May 8, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

Connie was born May 2, 1954, in Nevada, the daughter of Richard and Bette (Sesker) Strum. She graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1972 and attended cosmetology school in Ames. She married Calvin Peter Feb. 24, 1973, in Roland. They lived in Story City, where she practiced cosmetology for two years. They then moved to Melcher.

In 1981, they moved to Osage, where she was a daycare provider for 26 years. She most was recently employed as a cook at Osage Community Schools. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was an avid supporter of her husband's coaching career, her children and their activities and of Osage athletics. She greatly loved her family, and her extended family of daycare children.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Peter of Osage; one daughter, Melissa (Andy) Curry of Mitchell, S.D., and their children, Kenna and Josie; one son, Ben (Jen) Peter of Elgin, Minn., and their daughter, Kaylee; her mother, Bette Strum of Mason City; two brothers, Dennis (Marge) Strum of New Hampton and Lonnie (Sandy) Strum of Roland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Strum, in 1985.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and will continue one hour before services at the church.
