THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, May 4, 2006.

David F. Sansgaard, 59, of Ames, died Tuesday, May 2, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames with the Rev. Randall Gehring officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Story City Municipal Cemetery.

David was born April 21, 1947, in Ames Donald and Sophie (Olson) Sansgaard. He graduated from Ames High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-68. He had been employed as a painter with Fred Winkler and sons and then operated his own business, Dave Sansgaard A-1 Painting. He was an avid Iowa State football and basketball fan. He loved to fish and hunt.

He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 37, Elks Lodge and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his mother, Sophie Mikelson of Ames; one daughter, Lisa Sansgaard; one brother, Steve (Jeannine) Sansgaard of Nevada; one sister, Cynthia (Gary Kingsbury) Benson of Ames; nephews, Ben (Shawna) Sansgaard of Nevada and Josh (Sara Doser) Sansgaard of Collins; niece and nephew, Krista and Scott Benson of Ames; and a great-nephew and a great-niece, Tyler and Maycin Sansgaard of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents and his step-father, Gene Mikelson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
