Mrs. Doggett retires from Mary Greeley
Mrs. Ruth McCoy Doggett, an employee of Mary Greeley Hospital for 30 years has resigned as head nurse of the hospital’s central supply section.
A 1922 graduate of Ames Hight School, Mrs. Doggett attended Iowa State University for one year and graduated from St Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago , in 1933. She did post-graduate work at Willard Parker Contagious Hospital, New York.
Mrs. Doggett worked in the outpatient social service department of St. Luke’s for three years and then returned to Ames
She started her nursing career in Ames as a part-time employee at Mary Greeley and a private duty nurse. In 1952 she went on the staff as a general duty nurse fulltime. She served as head nurse in both medical and surgical units until taking over the central supply position.
She has worked under all of the superintendents and directors of nursing at the hospital and has seen all three additions to the building started.
Her husband, Ralph, is retired. They have four children.
