MARRIED AT AMES SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Miss Ruth McCoy, daughter of Art McCoy of Ames and Ralph Doggett, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Doggett of near Cambridge, were united in marriage in a ceremony performed Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the United Brethren church in Ames. Rev. Ernest L. Shaffer officiated in the presence of many friends and relatives of the couple.
Before the ceremony, Mrs. L. B. Shelton of Nashvillle, Tenn., sister of the bridegroom, sang "Because". Miss Margaret Doggett played a group of nuptial number and the wedding march from Lohengrin as a processional.
The bride was attired in a gown of white musseline de soie and long tulle veil. She carried an old fashioned bouquet of roses and baby's breath.
Mrs. Mabel Montgomery, of Montour, matron of honor , wore a frock of pale pink and carried tea roses and baby's breath. Iver Stevens, of Maxwell, was best man.
A reception was held after the service at the home of the bride's father on Third street.
Mrs. Doggett is a graduate of Ames high school with the class of 1922. She attended Iowa State College and later went to St. Luke's hospital training school for nurses in Chicago, from which she graduated in 1933. She has been employed in social service department in Chicago for the past two years.
Mr. Doggett attended Maxwell high school and has been engaged in farming near Cambridge for many years
Mr. and Mrs. Doggett will be at home on the farm of Mrs. Mary Dunahoo, west of Maxwell.Reception at the Doggett Home
Monday evening of this week a reception was given at the country home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Doggett, near Cambridge. About seventy-five relatives and friends were in attendance and spent a very happy evening. After congratulations and a short time spent in merry conversation, an elegant repast was served. Many useful and beautiful presents were received by the young couple.
The company remained until a late hour and on leaving for their homes united in best wishes for the estimable young couple.Correction: Mrs L. B. Shelton is actually Mrs. L. D. Shelton (Leroy Durrell)
