FORMER LOCAL RESIDENTS CELBRATE IN CALIFORNIA
William Thomas BELT and Lucy DENNISTON BELT, recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at the home of their son Lloyd, in Glendale, California. Mr. and Mrs. Belt were married in 1898 by the groom's grandfather, the Rev. Benedict BELT, at the home of the bride's father, James DENNISTON, east of Maxwell.
Mr. Belt was at one time associated with his uncle; the late R.J.Belt, well remembered by many elder citzens, as a prominent, early merchant of Maxwell.
Attending the celebration were ten guests, all former residents of Maxwell and vicinity, that were present at the wedding, fifty years ago. They were Mr. Belt's brother Earl, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, but now living in Los Angeles, and sister, Ada BELT RADER of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. BELT's brothers John, William and Frank DENNISTON and sister Nellie DENNISTON BUTTON, formerly of Oklahoma City but now residing in Canoga Park, Burbank, Arcadia and El Monte, California. A sister-in-law, Mrs. John DENNISTON of Los Angeles, and Cecil BELT of Alhambra, California. A cousin, Mable DENNISTON EDWARDS, recently of Omaha but now residing in Whittier, Califronia. Mr. Belt's Brother, Floyd of Minneapolis and Mrs. Belt's brother Louden of Corpus Cristi, Texas were unable to attend.
A buffet luncheon was served by caterers for more than sixty guests. Two neices of the honored couple; Mrs. Roy DENNISTON and Mrs. Cecil BELT, presided at the table laid with white linen and gleaming silver with a mammoth anniversary cake between two candelabrums. A perfussion of golden chrysanthenmums were arranged throughout the house and the generous gifts from friends and relatives signified their high regard for Mr. and Mrs. BELT.
