Book: Maxwell 1883-1983
On March 1, 1901, John (Jack) W. and Minnie Etta Bloomfield purchased the land where George and Vivian Angle now live, from Charles and Ella Porter. The purchase price according to the abstract was $3,800.
John, aged 18, left England May 13, 1889, to come and live with his brother, Tom Bloomfield, who had arrived sometime before and was living in Collins. Minnie Belcher was born March 17, 1876 in Collins. The two were married January 13, 1894 and lived in Collins for a short period of time. Until the time they purchased the farm, they lived in several other locations between Maxwell and Collins. They raised four daughters: Effie, Eva, Fern and Vivian. One son died at age two weeks and three days. Effie lives with her husband, Claude Whitaker, in the same section of land as the original purchase; Eva lives in Nevada; Fern died July 1962 while living in Kansas City, Missouri.
