John:
In the 1900 census Peter Wielenga b. Oct 1832 age 67 was married for 42 years, he and his parents were born in the Netherlands, they came to the USA in 1869 and had been in the USA for 31 years. They were living in Orange City Iowa at the time. His wife was Sarah (American name) b. Jun 1837 age 63, she and her parents born in the Netherlands. He was a land lord as occupation. They had one child at home Aaltje b. Feb 1880 20 yrs of age bon in Iowa.
Now hardly any people were in Sioux County in 1869 so they may have been at another location for a while before coming here.
It appears Peter L. Wielenga d. 30 May 1920 at 87 yrs so I will try to find his obituary in the paper and see if it has any indication of where they came to in the USA first.
