Have located obituaries for Amos Oakland and Mrs Amos (Anna Olena Scheie) Oakland in the Alton Democrat newspaper. These obituaries are available on the internet.
From our webpage ( www.iagenweb.org/sioux/ ), click on "Sioux County Digitized Newspaper Site", select "Advanced Search", and "for all of the words" enter "Oakland", select "Exact Date" and enter 1923, May, 5 for Amos Oakland or enter 1947, October, 30 for Mrs Anna Oakland. Also for the "Narrow by Publication Title", select "Alton Democrat (1885-1982) and then select "Search"
Amos Oakland obituary is on front page of May 5, 1923 newspaper and Mrs Anna Oakland obituary is page 6 of Oct 30, 1947 newspaper.
You can select "all the papers" with no date and you will get a lot of information on the "Oakland" family.
