We have no information in our files on Altepeter, but their family was found in several census on Ancestry.com.
In the 1900 census, Henry Altepeter (Lawrence's father) lived in Lynn township, Sioux County, Iowa which is the first township north of Hosper, Iowa. The family is listed as Henry (39), Catherine (36), Henry (12), Stephen (9), Willie (7), Johnny (5), Filamina (3), David (1).
In the 1910 census, Henry Altepeter lived in Lowell township, Polk County, which is near Crookston, Minnesota. The family is listed as Henry (49), Katherine (47), Henry J (22), Stephen P (19), William P (17), John P (15), Philemona (13),David P (11), Lawrance J (7).
In the 1920 census, Henry Altepeter lived in Lowell township, Polk County in Minnesota. The family is listed as Henry (58), Cathren (57), Philomen (22), David (21), Lawrence (17).
In the 1930 census, Lawrence is listed in Martinsburg township, Renville County which is near Olivia, Minnesota. The family is listed as Jacob Mauer (54), Katherine Mauer (54), Katherine I Mauer (14), Dorothy M Mauer (12), Jack Mauer (10), Joseph Mauer (8), Lawerence Mauer (2), Lawrence Altepeter (26), Anna Altepeter (22), Irene A Altepeter (2), Deloris M Altepeter (?). It is difficult to read, but it appears Lawrence Altepeter is listed as "Son-in-law" of Jacob Mauer and Anna is listed as "daughter" of Jacob Mauer. Ancestry.com lists Lawrence Altepeter as a "brother-in-law".
Difference in spelling of names is due to interpretation of the hand written census data.
