Hello: I have read the thread of posted queries on our web site for the name Burgsma. Here are some things to try to find Burgsma's in the USA. www.switchboard.com I put in the name Burgsma and came up with nothing in the USA. Then try www.google.com and type in the name Burgsma in search. It comes up with some hits and one is the grave photo of a Mrs. Kuyper from Carmel IA who's maiden name was Burgsma. See other listing under Burgsma in the google search. I see on Ancestry.com their was a family of Jackop J. Burgsma in the 1885 IA state census, he was born in Holland abt 1832. He was living in Troy, Clarke Co. IA in 1885 He had a wife Harriet M. born in Kentucky, a son John E. born in 1862, a son Lincoln A. b. 1864, dau. Anna b. 1868 and a dau Ester born 1870.
Another free site to try is www.familysearch.com which is the LDS site.
Did the name change to Bergsma, there are many more Bergsmas around than Burgsma?
