Dear Lorretta: I see there is an immigration record New York passenger lists for Klaas Klay age 53, wife age 37, Wouter age 2, looks like it is indicated they came from Amsterdam Neth. the ship was the Schiedam Orgin Germany, arrival date 25 Sep 1882, going to America, steerage.
In 1910 Klaas Klay was living with his daughter Dora DeVries Widow age 48 in Holland Township Sioux County, listed as 80 years old a widower. Dora had one son at home Charley 14, she listed 3 children in all.
Teunis Klay his brother is listed in the 1900 census of Rock Township.
Anyway, I can go on and on with research. Do you have a death date for Klaas or his wife, then I could look up the obituary in the newspaper for more information.
