GRIM REAPER'S CALL -- THREE PIONEERS ANSWER LAST SUMMONS
A joint obituary for Mrs. A. H. Collins, Mrs. Carl Olson, and Casper Luchsinger. Below is the portion relating to Casper Luchsinger.

Casper Luchsinger was born on the ocean May 2, 1864 [i.e., 1846?], while his parents were on their way from Switzerland to America. They located at Dubuque and it was in that city that the deceased spent his boyhood years. When only 16 years of age he enlisted in Co. A, 18th Iowa Inf., and served nearly three years and a half during the Civil war. He participated in a number of important engagements. After the war he returned to Dubuque where he was united in marriage with Celina LaBrune, who passed away five years later. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Mary Walrod, deceased, and Mrs. Celina Keivel of Hawarden.

In 1872 he moved to Jefferson, S.D. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Adeline Lemoges of Jefferson. Ten children were born to this union, nine of whom are still living, five sons and four daughters, Peter and Albert Luchsinger of Hawarden; George and Charles Luchsinger of Sioux City; and John of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. J. C. Osborne of Drumheller, Alberta; and Anna, Grace and Carrie Luchsinger of Sioux City. His wife also survives him. He also leaves three brothers and one sister, Daniel Luchsinger of Sioux City, George and John Luchsinger of Dubuque, and Mrs. Ellen Brockman, also of Dubuque.

Mr. Luchsinger moved to Hawarden with his family nearly thirty-five years ago. He was one of the first carriers on the rural routes established out of this city and was always faithful to every trust. He retired from active work a few years ago. About two years ago he moved to Sioux City. He leaves many friends here who extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
