Gertrude Schaefer

Gertrude Schaefer, 85, of 517 South Lyndale Ave., died Thursday at Sioux Valley Hospital.

Gertrude Heemstra was born at Alton, Iowa and married Martin Schaefer on Jan. 3, 1912. They moved to Sioux Falls from the Monroe area in 1953.

Mr. Schaefer died in 1951.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jake Porter, Rock Valley Iowa and Mrs. Grace Van Pelt, Alton Iowa; and one brother, Bert Heemstra, Pine River, Minnesota.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church. Burial will be at the Monroe Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
