Mrs. Henry Mackie received word Wednesday, of the serious illness of her father-Austin Carver-at his home in Texas, and left Thursday so as to be at his bedside before the end, if possible. Mr. Carver was one of the pioneers of this county.

Word has reached Hull that Austin Carver-Mrs. Henry Mackie's father died on the 22nd. As we said last week, he was one of the earliest of the settlers in this section. We extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved children, especially Mrs. Mackie.
