Lois Heeren, 92 of Akron, Iowa passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with Pastor Susan Juilfs officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the service time at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Akron. Lois Joyce Andresen was born on March 5, 1932 in Hawarden, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Chatsworth, Iowa and attended a local country school before graduating from Hawarden High School in 1950. She continued her education with additional secretarial training and began working at Emil Willer Insurance in Akron.

Lois was united in marriage to Norman W. Heeren on June 26, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Lois and Norman made their home in Akron where Lois assisted Norman with his bookwork and raised their children.

Lois was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active as a circle member and Sunday School teacher. While her children were in school, Lois volunteered as a classroom helper at Akron-Westfield schools. Lois enjoyed sewing and was a gifted seamstress; she made many clothes, doll outfits, and other household items for her family.

Lois and Norman enjoyed growing a large garden and canning their produce. They also enjoyed taking bicycle rides together and camping as a family in Okoboji. Lois and Norman also often traveled around the Midwest supporting their children and grandchildren in their hobbies and endeavors.

Lois is survived by a son: Gerald Heeren of Akron, IA; two daughters: Janelle (Terry) Martin of Sheldon, IA, and Chellie (Chris) Brown of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren: Rachel Heeren and her daughter, Aria, Shelby Heeren, Riley Heeren, Lindsey Martin, Jeffrey Martin, Kellie Martin, and Ivan Brown; one nephew, Jim (UnChu) Boyer; and two nieces: Pam (Steve) Reidlinger and Deb (Chris) Bernard.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; two children in infancy: Janice & Jason; sister, Donna (Eldon) Boyer, infant sister Delores; and siblings in law: Alvin (Gladys) Heeren, Ida (Dale) Schuette, and Mabel Heeren.
