Raymond Sneller, 95 of Parker, passed away on September 2, 2023 at the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 Pm Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe. Visitation with a luncheon will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. The service will be broadcasted at https://www.facebook.com/CalvaryReformedMonroe . Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Cadence International, LUC Boys Ranch, Calvary Reformed Church Youth or Midwest Honor Flight.

Raymond Sneller was born on August 27, 1928, to Henry and Dena (Koerselman) Sneller at Sioux Center, Iowa. He was one of 12 children. He graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1946. His mother died when he was 13 years old. He worked as a hired man and married Carolyn Boone on December 30,1949 in Sioux Center. They lived on a farm west of Sioux Center where Ray continued to work as a hired man for his brother Bill.

In early 1952, Ray was drafted into the US Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. He served on the front lines and was discharged in 1954 with the rank of Sergeant.

Following his military service, Ray and Carol moved to Milan, Minnesota and rented a farm. During the five years that Ray and Carol farmed there, two boys, Wayne and Robert were born in Montevideo, Minnesota. In 1959, Ray and Carol moved to a farm near Monroe, South Dakota and in 1967 they moved to a farm north of Parker, South Dakota In 1968, they lost a daughter Lynette Rae at birth. They retired from farming in 1992 .

In retirement, Ray and Carol moved into the town of Parker, where Ray served on the town council, drove the Cart bus and was active in the VFW and the American Legion.

In 2019, Ray and Carol moved to Touchmark in Sioux Falls, SD. Carolyn passed away December 1, 2021.

Raymond made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ as a young man at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa. He served on the consistory of the Hope Reformed Church and the Calvary Reformed as both deacon and elder. He taught Sunday School youth and adults for most of his life. He was a faithful follower of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved to talk to people about their relationship with God.

Raymond enjoyed fishing in his retirement years, a good steak once a week often on Sunday and talking with people. He lived a full life and most recently celebrated his 95th birthday with family at the Doughtery Hospice House in Sioux Fall. After slightly under a two week stay at the Doughtery Hospice House, he went to be with his Lord.

Ray is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne and Tamra (De Neui) Sneller of Luverne, Minnesota and Robert and Janelle (Vanderweerd) Sneller of Parker, South Dakota: five grandchildren-Kari Dykstra of Sioux Falls, SD, Jodie(Paul) Wielenga of Sioux Center, Iowa, Jana (Codie) Zeutenhorst of Luverne, MN, Deric Sneller(Rebecca) of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Jared Sneller of Parker, SD; nine great grandchildren Kalli, Cooper and Jessa Dykstra; Jenae, Brooke and Sadie Zeutenhorst; Tobin, Evan and Kara Sneller; seven sisters-in-law Joan Den Hartog of Sioux Center, Lillian Hogan of Lakewood, CA, Karen(Irv) DeBoer of Sioux Center, IA, Judy Friese(Ivan) of New Ulm, MN, Audrey Gesink of Orange City, IA ,Ruth Meyer(Gib) of Sioux Center, IA, Donna Boone of Sioux Center, IA and brother-in-law Raymond Boone (Hazel) of Jacksonville, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyn of 72 years ,stillborn daughter Lynette Rae; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Dena and Neal VanRoekel; Jennie and Orin Franke; Bertha and William Cleveringa; Gertrude and John Statema; Grace and Jim DeBoer, one sister, Agnes Sneller, four brothers and sisters-in-law; Edd and Luwina Sneller; Gerrit and Grace Sneller, Henry and Tena Sneller, Bill and Verna Sneller and one sister, Jennie who died at birth.

Brother and sister-in-laws: Jim and Ann Cochran; Ted and June VanDenBerg; Vernon and Ruth Boone: brothers-in-law: William Boone Jr. ,Paul Denhartog, Norm Hogan, Elmer Gesink, Kenneth Boone and Marvin Boone.
