Mrs. Greta Eason, age 95, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, May 14, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility. There was a memorial service on Wednesday, May 17, at 11:00 a.m.; at the Alton Presbyterian Church in Alton. Mr. Ronald Brink, C. L. P., officiated. Interment was prior to the service at the Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton. There will be a prayer service on Wednesday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Visitation was after 5:00pm on Tuesday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, at the funeral home.

Greta Lucile was born on May 15, 1910, in rural Orange City, the daughter of Peter G. and Martha (Noordhoff) De Jong. She was raised in the Orange City area, where she graduated from the Northwestern Classical Academy in 1927.

On July 3,1935, she married Fred Marion Eason in Le Mars. They lived in Alton for several years and then moved to a farm east of Maurice. In the late 1940s, they returned to Alton. "Fritz" passed away on May 25, 1972, in Alton. In November of 1996, Mrs. Eason became a resident of the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. In April of 1997, she transferred to the Long Term Care Facility.

She was a member of the Alton Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school classes for 27 years. She also directed the Junior Choir for many years, was a member of the Senior Choir, and was active in the women's organizations of the church.

In earlier years, she was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. Greta enjoyed watching baseball games on television and crocheting and sewing.

Survivors include her two daughters, Ruth Zembsch, of Alton; and Eulyn, and her husband, Lee Riemersma, of Spirit Lake; four grandchildren, Linda, and her husband, Allen Willett, of Alton; Leon Zembsch, of Ashton; Sara, and her husband, Billy Gilbert, of Hutchinson, Kansas; and Sally, and her husband, Steve Rindfuss, of West Des Moines; and six great-grandchildren, Kari, and her husband, Chris Koser; Kelli Willett; Trinity Lynn Gilbert; William Henry Gilbert; Gabriel Steven Rindfuss; and Lillian Marie "Lilly" Rindfuss.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Riemersma; a great-grandson, Ian Gilbert; a sister, Nellie De Jong; and three brothers, Harry, Raymond, and Nelson De Jong.
