Harold Kleinwolterink, 94 of Sioux Center died Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Royale Meadows Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 10:30AM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8PM with the Family present from 6-8PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

The Kleinwolterink family prefers memorial be directed to Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation.

Harold Dick Kleinwolterink was born on January 2, 1915, to Henry and Dena (Bonnema) Kleinwolterink. Harold was raised on a farm in the Orange City area.

On June 9, 1943, he was united in marriage to Eldora Huitink in Renton, Washington where Harold was stationed at the time during WWII.

After returning to Sioux Center, Harold worked for a short time at the COOP Gas and Oil. The couple then moved to a farm west of Sioux Center where they raised their six children and one foster daughter.

In 1984 they retired to Sioux Center. Harold became a resident of the Sioux Center Nursing wing in the fall of 2003. Eldora preceded him in death on May 12, 2004.

Harold was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Harold will be remembered by his family and many others for his great sense of humor.

Those left to cherish his memory are his six children and their spouses: Loren and Ann Kleinwolterink, Owen and Helen Kleinwolterink, Rochelle and Harlan Vande Hoef all of Sioux Center; Evan and Sue Kleinwolterink, Wayne and Vicky Kleinwolterink all of Minneapolis; Doreen and Dan Kraayenbrink of Pella, IA; his foster daughter, Diane Larson of Minneapolis; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Harold is also survived by brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Jo Kleinwolterink of Orange City; brother-in-law, Willard Huitink of Sioux Center; sister-in-laws, Everna Vander Schaaf of Sioux Center and Wilma Mouw of Orange City as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Harold was preceded in death by brothers: John, Pete and Alvin Kleinwolterink; sister, Johanna Vander Broek and a grandson, Joshua Kraayenbrink.
