Garthurd William Deinken, 74, died Tuesday, August 8, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. August 10 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Mark De Witt officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Deinken was born May 16, 1921, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, son of Alex and Hertha Deinken. He married Gerdena Mulder on August 14, 1959, in Sioux Center. The couple lived in Sioux Center their married life. He worked for the City of Sioux Center as a street foreman for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Steve Punke of Sioux Falls; Julie and Dave Pratt of Sioux Falls; one son and his wife, Brian and Michelle of Sioux Center; two sisters, Adeline Wager of Fairfax, Minnesota, and Dorothy and her husband Marvin Sneller of Sleepy Eye; two brothers and their wives, Denny and Rose of Sun City, Arizona, and Jerome and Harriet of Morton, Minnesota; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
