Last Wednesday evening the sad news was heard that old gentleman Fred Kuhl had died of the result of an operation. He was an old pioneer, well known and respected and leaves much property. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Frist Reformed church.

Frederich Kuhl was born in Luke, Germany April 23, 1840, came to American in April of 1869, and located in Muscatine County IA., where he resided three years when he came to Sioux County and located about two miles east of Sioux Center in West Branch Twp., where he lived until four years ago when he moved to Sioux Center where he resided until his demise January 13, 1915.

He was ever faithful to the trust committed unto him and died in faith triumphant. His last words to his faithful wife were, ‘The strife is ended the victory won. ‘ He leaves a faithful and living wife, three sons, eighteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his sudden death.

Frederick Kuhl was born 26 Apr 1848 Locken, Heinsberg, Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany and died 13 Dec 1915 Sioux Center IA. His parents were Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Kuhl 1810-1862 and Johanna Frederike Gebner 1807. His wife was Louisa Fredericka Bauer 1840-1924. Their children were – Charles Kuhl 1866-1922, Anna Kuhl 1870-1898, Arie Kuhl 1872-1880, George Kuhl 1874-1880, Mary Kuhl 1876-1880, Alice Kuhl 1879-1880, Fred Kuhl 1881-1954 and George Frederick Kuhl 1884-1932.

Fred's headstone has birth year as 1840.
