Hawarden independent of Nov 5, 1914 Death of James Knight
Passed Away Suddenly From an Attach of Heart Trouble. James D Knight died very suddenly Monday night at the home of his brother, George Knight, from heart trouble. He had been in usual health during the day and up to a late hour in the evening. His sudden death came as a great surprise and shock to his relatives and numerous friends. The deceased was born in Cassopolis, MI, Jan 1, 1852. He came with his parents to Burbank, SD, in 1866 and resided there a few years, later moving with his mother onto a homestead near Alcester. He resided there until about eight years ago when he came to Hawarden and has since made his home here.
He was a single man all his life. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Rev. C. H. Young, pastor of the M. E. church, preaching the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Alcester cemetery.
