Death of Old Settler Andrew Anderson passes away after a brief illness.
Andrew Anderson died at his home on the north side last evening after a brief illness form acute jaundice. Mr. Anderson had been in poor health since last fall but was not confined to his bed until a little over a week prior to his death. He leaves a wife and three small children to mourn his loss. Brief funeral services will be held at the home at 9:30 Friday morning and the body will then be taken to the cemetery at Spink, S. D., for interment.The deceased was born in Norway Sep 5, 1858, and came to WI with his parents when he was two years of age. They moved to Union County about 45 years ago and Mr. Anderson continued to make his home there until nine years ago when he moved to this city. During his residence in Union county he was engaged in farming the greater part of the time. He was elected sheriff of that county for a term of two years and was also a guard at the Sioux Calls penitentiary for a years or two. Since coming to Hawarden he has been engaged in buying grain for various companies. He was a good business man and was well like by all who Knew him.

Andrew E. Anderson was born 4 Sep 1856 Laerdal, Norway, married 1904 Union Co. SD, died 11 Feb 1914 Hawarden IA. His parents were Anders Anderson Oye 1825-1891 and Brita Ingversdatter 1837-1924. His wife was Hannah Mathilda Paulson 1877-1944. Children were – Baby Anderson 1905-1905, Arvid Melvin Andersen 1907-1970, Annabelle Bertine Anderson 1909-1994 and Leonard Carl Adolphus Anderson 1911-1975.
