Roberta “Bobby” Lee was born, along with her twin sister, on March 13, 1954, in Sheldon, to Stanley and Phyllis (Winkowitsch) Ontjes. Her early childhood was spent living in Bridgewater, South Dakota, until 1967, when she and her family moved to the Boyden area. She graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1972 and from Nettleton Business School in 1973. She married Tom Reuvers on June 5, 1974, and worked for a time at Koyker Manufacturing in Hull as a receptionist until the birth of their children in 1977 and 1978. She returned to the workforce in 1990 and worked as a bookkeeper at The Travel Advantage in Sioux Center until her retirement in 2023.

She was baptized in 1976 at the Ashton Bible Church and has since been a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden. At various times in her life, she taught catechism, Bible school, and Bible study. Writing and giving devotions at the Soul Sisters quilt retreats were duties she felt called to do, but her greatest joy was teaching her children, and later her grandchildren, about the Lord.

She learned to sew at a very early age and spent many hours in front of the sewing machine making clothing, craft items, and numerous one-of-a-kind quilts. Donating blood every two months became a serious goal of hers, and she finished strong with a total of almost eighteen gallons given. Photography, reading, Charles Wysocki jigsaw puzzles, and visits to the Sheldon sale barn were other interests that occupied her free time; however, all would be put aside if it meant a visit to or from her kids and/or grandkids.

The very special people left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tom Reuvers, of Boyden; a son and his wife, Lee and Darla Reuvers, of Sheldon; a daughter and her husband, Dyan and Ryan Vander Sluis, of Le Mars; eight grandchildren, Ashley, and her husband, Graden Nordahl; Bailey, and her husband, Ryan Francis; Gracie, and her husband, Tyler Lode; Maliyah Reuvers; Kennedy Reuvers; Brandon Vander Sluis; Seth Vander Sluis; and Mya Vander Sluis; one great-granddaughter, Harlee Nordahl, and two more grandchildren on the way; her twin sister, Rebecca “Becky”, and her husband, Rich Click; and her sister, Gayle, and her husband, Lyle Moret, all from the Denver, Colorado area; her mother-in-law, Helen Reuvers, of Boyden; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Jerry and Mary Beth Reuvers, of Orange City; and Dennis and Tracie Reuvers, of Rock Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Marcia, and her husband, John Neely, of Moville; and Melody Reuvers, of Boyden; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hosanna Vander Sluis; her father-in-law, Henry Junior Reuvers; and a brother-in-law, Douglas Reuvers.

Memorials will be given to the Boyden Public Library and the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
