There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, at 11:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers with the Rev. Brandon Van Marel officiating.

Jeanette Mildred, the daughter of Tunis and Minnie (Van Schepen) Vollink, was born on November 9, 1927, on a farm near Ireton. She grew up in the Ireton area and attended the Ireton Christian School until 1940, when her family moved to Sheldon, and she completed her education at the Sheldon Christian School.

On December 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lammert John Roetman at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Together they made their home on a farm southwest of Hospers, where they raised their five children. Lammert passed away at their farm home on April 5, 2009, after more than sixty years of marriage. Jeanette then moved to Sunrise Cooperative Homes on the east side of Hospers, and later to the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon before becoming a resident of the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City in December of 2022.

Mrs. Roetman was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers, where she was active in the Priscilla Bible Society and Coffee Break. Along with her daughter Ruth, she was a puppeteer for Kids on the Block. She was also a member of the Reuter American Legion Auxiliary in Hospers. Jeanette enjoyed doing needlework and going shopping with Ruth. As a farm wife, she brought many meals to the field and loved having people around her table for coffee. Her family especially enjoyed her cinnamon rolls and green Jell-O with pears. She had a strong desire to share her faith, and she encouraged her family, as well as those she visited with in the nursing homes, to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her five children, Sharon, and her husband, Dennis Den Hartog, of Orange City; Carla, and her husband, Wolf Dittmer, of Ada, Michigan; Barb, and her husband, Keith Huizenga, of Fremont, Nebraska; Ruth Roetman, of Orange City; and Jon Roetman, of Alton; ten grandchildren, Jennie, and her husband, Derek Terpstra; Julie, and her husband, Jason Tinklenberg; Jamie Den Hartog, and his wife, Alisa; Kelly, and her husband, Brandon Van Marel; Jonathan Van Hofwegen, and his wife, Laura; Brett Huizenga, and his wife, Amanda; Michael Van Hofwegen; Brooke, and her husband, John Estes; AJ Roetman; and Kira Roetman; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Alyda Roetman; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman (Wilmina) Vollink, Fred (Hattie) Vollink, and Gilbert (Margaret and Bonnie) Vollink; three sisters, Dorothy (Art) Vander Bilt, Cynthia (Hank) Balt (Cort) Roskamp, and Alma (Ivan) Visser (Marion) Andringa; and a sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Katherine (Ivan) Muilenburg, Bernard Roetman, Howard Roetman, and Benjamin Roetman.

Memorials will be given to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon and Unity Christian High School in Orange City.
