Alma Landegent, 93, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home 4800 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD at 6:00 PM, the family will be present at 4:30 PM for visitation. The family invites you to join them for dinner following Alma’s service.

Alma was born on January 21, 1930, in Rock Valley, Iowa to Cornelius and Susanna Schreuder.

Alma married William Landegent on August 30, 1950. Together they worked the family farm in Rock Valley. Alma was an active volunteer with her church and worked at the hospital in Rock Valley.

Alma and Bill took many wonderful trips over the years including favorites to visit family in the Netherlands and California. After retirement, winters were spent putzing in the kitchen of a cozy cabin on Lake Okoboji where they fished and hosted many family and friends.

Alma’s acts of kindness and love were evident through her sewing and needlecraft talents. From her childhood, Sue remembers her mother could copy a picture of any garment and turn it into a wonderful outfit. Many people were the recipient of one of her beautiful crocheted baby blankets. Alma had a rare talent for needlework and could often be found sitting in her chair, listening to a book on tape lovingly working on a project.

Grateful for sharing Alma’s life are her husband Bill Landegent, her children Susan Nordby (Jan), Scott Landegent (Rita); grandchildren Alison Elliott, Brian Nordby (Laura), Phil Landegent (Erin), Caija West (Logan) and her step-grandson Keygan Bogenhagen; her great-grandchildren Graham, Elise, Mason, Madelyn, Mathious, Wilder and Belle; brother Clarence “Clip” Schreuder, Aldwin Lorica and numerous brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her son Bruce Landegent, her infant son Wayne, her brother Albert Schreuder and sister Helen “Jean” Van Kekerix.
