Oakes, Elizabeth M. Mrs. Geo. W. Born June 12, 1824/1833 PA, died Jan 25 1907 Chatsworth, cause Chronic Bronchitis. Parents Phillip Mack and Mary Crop. Source Sioux County Death record.

Mrs. Geo. W. Oakes died Saturday morning after a lingering illness of lung trouble. Miss Elizabeth Mock was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvainia, June 12 1833, and was married to Geo. W. Oakes June 8, 1854 in Clearfield county, PA, living there till 1857 when they moved to Illinois, and in 1866 came to Iowa locating at Pleasant Valley. In 1890 they moved to Chatsworth where she has since resided.

To this union were born nine children, six of whom are now living. A daughter, Mrs. E. A. Jones of Brayton, Iowa, and five sons, Finnis of Pleasant Valley, John of Hawarden, Charles and Joe of Chatsworth and William of Summit SD., all being present at the funeral but Mrs. Jones. The sons including a grandson, Walter at her request were pall bearers. The funeral service was held Monday Morning at the M E church, Rev. Chittenden conducting the services, after which they drove to Pleasant Valley, Plymouth county, where the remains were laid to rest.

(Her husband George Washington Oakes born 1831 died 7 Apr 1913 Westfield Plymouth County IA. 1850 census indicates her parents were John Mock 1796 PA and Margaret Mock 1801 PA, Elizabeth was 16, they lived at Cumberland Valley Bedford PA).
