Lorraine Mae (Springer) Shearer age 77 of Sioux Center, Iowa died unexpectedly Saturday, May 27, 2023, at residence in Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 1st at Faith Lutheran Church of Orange City, Iowa.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Funeral service will be live streamed on the Faith Lutheran Church Facebook page.

Lorraine Mae Shearer was born on April 1, 1946, in Fairmont, MN, the daughter of Bernhard and Katheryn (Maurer) Springer. Her family moved to a farm near White Lake, SD, then to Plankinton, SD where she graduated from Plankinton High School.

Lorraine moved to Mitchell, SD to live with her sister and began working at Knodel Jewelry Store. While living in Mitchell she met her husband to be, Mark Shearer Sr. They were united in marriage on April 20, 1968, in Plankinton, SD. They moved to Windom, MN and lived there for a year and then settled in Mitchell, SD where they started their family. Lorraine also worked at a local Jewelry Shop. In 1982 they moved to Sioux Center, IA and where she worked at Harker’s, Walmart and retired from Groschopp Manufacturing after 20 years of employment. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Orange City, IA. She enjoyed sewing, collecting things, and watching the birds in her back yard.

This past Saturday morning Lorraine passed away at the age of 77 years. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Mark Shearer Sr. of Sioux Center, IA; two children, Teresa Shearer of Arizona and Mark (wife Jen) Shearer Jr. of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Corey, Lacey, Janel, Lane, Carson and Charlie; six great-grandchildren, Ellanora, Rosalind, Camden, Audrey, Charlotte and Conan; a sister, Marian Letcher of Mitchell, SD; mother-in-law, Bette Shearer of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernhard and Katheryn Springer; a brother, Donald Springer; and father-in-law, Fred Shearer.
