Glen Allen Brouwer, 72, Grovetown, GA, formerly of Sioux Center, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and his precious dog, Ebony, in Evans, GA, and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 23, 2022.

A Celebration of Glen's Life will be 11 a.m.. Saturday, June 11, at New Life Church in Sioux Center. The Brouwer family requests memorials be directed to the New Life Church Long-Term Missionary Fund or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Glen was a faithful and devoted husband to Shari; loving father to Anita and Brian King and Chrissy and Caleb Wilkerson; proud grandpa to Leo Wilkerson; cherished son of John and Vera (Levering) Brouwer; and treasured brother of Betty (Garret) Visser, Ruth Flemming, and Marv (Doris) Brouwer.

Glen was born May 11, 1949, in Orange City, IA. He attended Maurice Grade School and graduated from Maurice-Orange City High School in 1968. He graduated from NITC with a degree in air conditioning and refrigeration in 1969.

He met the love of his life, Shari Vande Garde, while cruising in Sioux Center. They married in 1973 and settled in Sioux Center.

In 1976, Glen partnered with Keith Bonnema to start B&B Plumbing and Heating. In 1997 he ventured out on his own to start TileWorks.

He served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Sioux Center for 15 years. Glen and Shari remained in Sioux Center until 2022 when they moved to Grovetown, GA, to be closer to their adorable grandson, Leo.
"I thank my God every time I remember you." Philippians 1:3.

Glen was the grateful recipient of a kidney transplant from his sister-in-law Doris in 1999 and a pancreas transplant from an anonymous donor in 2000.

Glen greatly enjoyed working with his hands, which manifested in many hobbies including wood-working and gardening. He especially loved animals, from his beloved dogs to the birds who benefitted from his numerous feeders.

Glen's faith in his Savior Jesus Christ guided his words and directed his actions. He was a charter member of New Life Church in Sioux Center where he served as a deacon and an elder.

He was a great friend and good listener and was compassionate, kind, humble, caring, helpful, willing to serve and always welcoming to new visitors to the church and community.

He and Shari shared their gift of hospitality with many who enjoyed meals in their home.

Despite battling health issues throughout his life, Glen showed courage, quiet strength, and a positive outlook in facing life's challenges with a smile and contagious laugh. Having overcome daunting obstacles, Glen felt strongly that God had blessed him with many miracles.

Per his wishes, his body has been donated to the Medical College of Georgia in anticipation of helping future generations.

Glen was preceded in death by his father, John; brother, Marv; niece, Angie; parents-in-law, Doc and Marty Vande Garde; and great-nephew Connor Vande Garde.

"To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy--to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen."--Jude 24-25.
