Don Fedders, 79, of Milford passed away peacefully in Remsen, Iowa, on March 22, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 3pm Friday, March 31, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service on Friday at the church. The burial will take place in the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Don Fedders was born on April 8, 1943, in Orange City, Iowa to Herm and Mina (Luchtenburg) Fedders. He graduated from high school in Orange City, Iowa in 1960. After graduating at the top of his class at NBT College in Sioux City, he later earned his CPA. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ver Steeg on May 24, 1963, in Orange City, Iowa.
Left to cherish his memory is son Dan (Pam) Fedders of Yankton, SD and their children Emily (Nolan) Bostic, Ellison and Sadie; son Greg (Penny) Fedders of Monroe, WI and their children Will (Kalyn) and Elizabeth; daughter Teresa (David) Rutledge of Council Bluffs, IA and their children Ainsley, Garret and Brooklynn; Great-granddaughters Sawyer Mae and Haddie Jean Fedders; sister-in-law Wanda Kuiken of Maurice, IA; sister-in-law Irma Beukelman of Madison, SD; sister-in-law Shirley (Marty) Wierda of Sioux Center, IA; Brother-in-law Ike Huizenga of Remsen, IA; brother-in-law Larry (Jane) Ver Steeg of Hawarden, IA; brother-in-law Stan Ver Steeg of Orange City, IA; sister-in-law Nancy (Dave) Vellinga of West Des Moines, IA and sister-in-law Muriel Palsrock of Sibley, IA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Fedders; his parents; brother-in-law Bud Kuiken; brother-in-law Red Beukelman; brother and sister-in-law Bus and Alice Ver Steeg; and sister-in-law Eva Huizenga.
Don began his accounting career at Williams & Company, P.C. in 1963, and advanced to leadership within the company. Eventually under his leadership as Managing Partner, Williams & Company flourished and grew beyond the Sioux City offices to support additional offices in Le Mars, Onawa, Orange City, Spencer (all in Iowa) and Yankton, SD. He was an innovative thinker and leader focusing on the needs of his clients and delivering services enabling them to succeed.
Don always showed a deep love for his family and friends. His role as husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend meant the world to him. He was deeply loyal to the people he loved. Don was a man of character and felt if something is worth doing, it is worth doing right. Honesty and respect were very important to Don, and he was intent on treating others with respect. Don lived his entire life with humor and wit, and he truly enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a kind-hearted, hard-working, loving man who left this world a much better place.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the MOC Floyd Valley scholarship fund in the name of Don and Pat Fedders. Memorials can be mailed to:
