Mr. David Schouten, age 62, of Alton, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at his residence.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, October 1, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, at the Sioux Golf and Country Club in Alton. Hawkeye attire is encouraged. The Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City is assisting the family.

David Ryan was born on August 2, 1960, in Sioux Center, the son of Robert and Alma Jean (Kroon) Schouten. He was raised in Sioux Center, where he graduated from the Sioux Center High School.

On February 16, 1996, he was united in marriage to Susan Elizabeth Anderson in Sioux Center. They made their home in Alton, where he enjoyed golfing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and listening to music on the deck.

Survivors include his wife of more than 26 years, Susan, of Alton; three children, Tyler, and his wife, Kandice, of Bedford; Casey and Shelly of Sheldon; and Shelby, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three step-children, Josh, and his wife, Evalie, of Woodbury, Minnesota; Drew, and his wife, Alli, of Des Moines; and Nick, and his wife, Miranda, of Le Mars; three sisters and their husbands, Deb and Larry Vander Weide, Sally and Dick Koel, and Kathy and Rod Van Beek, all of Sioux Center; and a brother, Paul Schouten, of Los Angeles, California; eight grandchildren, Kate, Ryott, Rebel, Emmeri, Isaiah, Zach, Adyn and Natalie.
