AGED PIONEER OF UNION IS DEAD

Charles Ison of Alcester, a resident of Union county for more than a half a century, passed away in a Sioux City hospital Monday, Oct. 11. He was taken to the hospital a few days prior to his death.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Alcester last Wednesday, Oct. 13, with Rev. G. W. Reinmuth in charge. Burial was in Gothland cemetery.

Charles Ison was born in England May 19, 1864, and so was past 79 years of age at the time of his death. At the age of four, he came to America with his parents, settling at Princeton, Wis. About 55 years ago, he came to Union county. A few years later, he was married to Susan Allen. For a time after his marriage, he lived near Beresford. Later he came to Alcester, where he spent practically the rest of his life. His wife passed away Nov. 24, 1941, and Mr. Ison continued to live on the farm until eight or nine months ago, when he went to Beresford to live with a daughter.

He is survived by four children: Mrs. Arthur Willerton of Kenosha, Wis.; Guy of Crookston, Neb.; Mrs. George Jacobson of Beresford; and Mrs. L. B. Keene of Hartley, Iowa.
