From the Alton Democrat, May 12, 1906:

Ole Gangnet aged about thirty years died in the hospital at St. Paul Saturday night of last week. He was one of the bridge gang working near Carnes and boarding at the Dubuque house in Alton. He took sick Monday of last week but his comrades did not think him bad. Dr. Gleysteen was called Thursday and ordered him to the hospital at once—pronouncing his ailment lung fever. His comrades took him away on the Thursday night train and he died thirty-six hours after reaching the hospital.

No additional information about his death was readily located. He does not appear in the Minnesota death records index (although the state records for 1900-1908 are incomplete). The 1895 St. Paul city directory has an entry for Ole Gangnet, carpenter for the C St P M & O Railway, boarding at the same place as does Hans T. Gangnet, foreman for the C St P M & O Railway.
