From the Rock Valley Bee, November 14, 1941, Boyden news:

Word was received here Sunday of the passing away of [the] eleven month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Der Pol at Iowa City on Sunday morning. Arie Bomgaars and De Bruin, undertaker of Sioux Center, went to Iowa City on Sunday to take the body home. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon. She leaves to mourn her parents and one brother.

From the Boyden Reporter, November 13, 1941:

Marietta VanderPoel, 1-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry VanderPoel, died Sunday morning November 8, at Iowa City. She had undergone a double mastoid operation Saturday. Funeral services were Wednesday from the home. She leaves to mourn her parents and brother Harvey.

No death certificate was found online. She does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index.
The 1940 U.S. census for Boyden lists her apparent family: Henry VanderPoel [indexed as VanderPael], age 37, a laborer, his wife Cornelia (27), and their son Harvey (3).
