Anthony Van Beek, 90, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 6, at 10:00 AM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Tuesday, July 5, from 5:30-7:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials for the Netherlands Reformed Christian School of Rock Valley.

Anthony Van Beek was born January 21, 1932 near Rock Valley, IA to Gerrit and Rolena (Schoneveld) Van Beek. He was raised on a farm and attended country school through the 8th grade. Anthony served his country as a member of the United States Army and was trained for the artillery forces. He served in Korea from June 1953 to May 1955. On October 1, 1956 he was united in marriage with Florence Winters in Rock Valley. Their first home was in Hudson, SD and Anthony worked at Canton Block and Tile. In June of 1957 Anthony started as a mechanic for Boeve’s Repair in Rock Valley and later that year they moved to Rock Valley. In the spring of 1959 they moved to Hendricks, MN where Anthony started farming. In the spring of 1961, they moved and farmed near Tea, SD. In the spring of 1963, once again, they moved and farmed near Chancellor, SD. In the spring of 1971 Anthony bought his parents farm near Hudson, SD and continued to farm until his retirement in August of 1998, when they moved to Rock Valley.

Anthony was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley where he served as Deacon for 18 years. Anthony passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley, Iowa at the age of 90 years.

Anthony is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence; 7 children, Ronald (Michele) Van Beek of Orange City, IA, Lavonne (Herbert) Spaans of Larchwood, IA, Audrey (James) Zomer of Orange City, IA, Glenda (Dennis) Van Roekel of Sioux Center, IA, Kevin (Tina) Van Beek of Hudson, SD, Lisa (David) Maassen of Hudson, SD, and Sheila (Jay) LeLoux of Hudson, SD; 34 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Gary (JoAnn), Marvin (Jeanette), both of Rock Valley, IA and Howard (Dee) of Lynden, WA; 5 sisters, Gertrude Rozeboom, Loraine (Gilbert) Hoogendoorn, Geneva Klarenbeek, all of Rock Valley, IA, Reva (Sam) Koedam of Canton, SD, and Viola (Wes) Bonnema, Mason City, IA; 2 brothers-in-law, Gary (Gloria) Teunissen of Rock Valley, IA, and Lloyd (Norma) Winters of Hull, IA; 3 sisters-in-law, Arlene Van Beek of Dalhart, TX, Diane (Roger) De Haan of Orange City, IA, and Loraine (Harold) Neimeyer of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Rolena Van Beek; daughter-in-law, Janet (Kattenberg) Van Beek; 3 brothers, Albert, John and Junior; 3 sisters, Tracy Dieters, Evelyn Richters, and Janet Teunissen; father and mother-in-law, Louis and Rolena Winters; step mother-in-law Gertrude (Van Maanen) Winters; 4 brothers-in-law, Teunis Rozeboom, Carl Dieters, Gerrit Klarenbeek, and Kenneth Winters; and sister-in-law, Wilma Van Beek.
