MISS MARIAN KLEIN EXPIRES AT ALTON

Miss Marian Klein, 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Klein, passed on at her home east of Alton Tuesday evening after an illness of long duration. Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at nine o’clock at St. Mary’s church in Alton.

The young lady attended the parochial school at Alton and was loved by teachers and school mates. She is survived by her parents, three brothers and three sisters, including Mrs. Edwin Budden, Mrs. Edward Vonder Harr, Gerald Klein, all of Granville, Mrs. Odilio Ahlers of Spencer, Anton and George at home. The family have the sympathy of a host of friends.

MANY COME TO HONOR MEMORY OF MARIAN KLEIN

The funeral of Miss Marian Klein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Klein Thursday morning at nine o’clock was attended by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends of the beloved young lady.

The Reverend J. M. Neppel officiated at the requiem high mass at St. Mary’s church and interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Six cousins of the deceased acted as pallbearers, namely: William and Albert Joanning, John Ney of Granville, Ted, Raphael and Richard Klein of Adrian, Minn.

Besides her bereaved parents, sisters and brothers and her fiancé, Arnold Vortherms, the following relatives from out-of-town were present: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Budden, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vonderharr, sons Jack and Edward, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Klein of Granville; Mr. and Mrs. Odilo Ahlers of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. John Ney and family, Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Joanning, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ney, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ney, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ney, Frank Vortherms and family, all of Granville; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Ney, Primghar; Mrs. Jerome Wolf of Sedalia, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mauch and family of Mooreton, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klein and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klein and family, Wm., Bertha and Cecelia Klein, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hietkamp, Mr. and Mrs. Don Kellen, Miss May Ludebeck, all of Adrian, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Slinger and Ernest Vortherms of Woodstock, Minn.; Alfonse Steichen, Webster, Minn.; Will Klein and son Joseph, of Dell Rapids, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jarding, Emery, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Dieterman of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Nic Steichen, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Steichen, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Thill, all of Remsen; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Graff of Orange City; Francis Dermody of Chicago; plus numbers of relatives and friends from Alton and neighboring towns.

Her death certificate (informant Anton Klein) has Marian Mary Klein, resident of rural Alton, for 1-1/2 years; born July 14, 1922 in Iowa; parents Anton J. Klein and Mary Steichen; died at 9:15 p.m. September 8, 1941; cause: lymphosarcoma of left thigh, crest of iliac bone; other conditions: metastasis to glands (rt inguinal).

Her FindaGrave.com page has Marian M. Klein, born 14 Jul 1922 in Alton; died 9 Sep 1941 in Alton; buried in St. Marys Cemetery, Alton. Parents Anton J. Klein (1889-1969) and Mary M. Steichen Klein (1894-1980). Three siblings listed: Anna Marie Klein Budden (1914-2007), Agnes Elizabeth Klein Vonderharr (1915-2015), and Gerald W. Klein (1917-2008).
