Mr. John Schulte, age 76, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at his home in Orange City.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, July 13, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. A prayer service will take place on Thursday, July 14, at 10:00am, at the funeral home, followed by interment at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, at 11:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Mark Haverdink officiating.

John Henry was born on October 15, 1945, in Sibley, the son of Henry and Tillie (Kruger) Schulte, of George. Following his graduation from the George Community School, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1964 to 1967, in Germany and Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Linda Faye Brink on August 23, 1967, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. They made their home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sioux Center, Maurice, and settled in Orange City in 1971.

Mr. Schulte was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City. He worked at Prairie Market in Sioux Falls, Vogel Paint and Wax in Orange City, and for 32 years at Advanced Brands in Orange City.

John was an avid self-taught wood worker and handyman. He enjoyed remodeling his home and making fine pieces of furniture.

Survivors include his wife of more than 54 years, Linda, of Orange City; their three children, Rochele, and her husband, Jeff Freburg, and their son Jonah, of Rochester, Minnesota; Terese Schulte, of Sioux Falls; and Rev. Aaron Schulte, of High Falls, New York; three sisters, Audrey Lundquist, of Sioux Falls; Lela De Noble, of Rogers, Arkansas; and Jean, and her husband, Keith Lewis of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Phil Lundquist and Cornie De Noble; and a nephew, Cory De Noble.

Memorials may be given to Midwest Honor Flight.
