Miss Kristy Klein, age 42, of Yankton, South Dakota, formerly of Alton, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

A Scriptural Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at 5:00pm, followed by visitation with the family until 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. There will be a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 27, at 10:30am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Greving officiating. Interment will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.

Kristy Ann was born on March 19, 1980, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Randy L. and Mary C. (Buckley) Klein. She grew up in Alton with her two siblings, Shari and Keith, and attended the Floyd Valley Elementary School in Hospers and graduated from the MOC-Floyd Valley High School in 1998. During high school, she enjoyed playing softball and was a member of the band, where she played the flute. Kristy enjoyed many varieties of music throughout her life. After high school, she enrolled at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in May of 2002.

For the past several years, Kristy made her home at the Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton. She liked to listen to music and play card games and Yahtzee. She also enjoyed visiting with the staff and other residents at the Care Center and made many friends through the local IMPACT program.

She is survived by her son, Tyrell L. Klein, of Alton and currently attending Mount Marty University in Yankton; her parents, Randy and Mary Klein, of Alton; a sister and her husband, Shari and Brent Wynia, and their children, Kyle, Alex, and Jacie, all of Rock Valley; a brother, Keith Klein, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her paternal grandfather, Ronald Klein, of Maurice; and a step-grandmother, Barbara Buckley, of Kingsley.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Lois Klein; and her maternal grandparents, Charles and Virginia Buckley.
