Jeffrey Richard was born on May 13, 1958, in Le Mars, the oldest of five children born to Earl Kenton and Beverly Jean (Hoefling) Vore. He grew up in Maurice, where he attended elementary and junior high school before graduating from the Maurice-Orange City High School in 1976.

He was united in marriage to Debra Ranae Vander Plas on February 9, 1979, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. Together they settled into a home on the west side of Maurice. Jeff worked for Interstates Electric in Sioux Center and Van Iperen Trucking in Hospers until starting a job with Culligan Water of Sioux County, where he remained for more than 22 years. More recently, he worked as engineering support for Pella Windows in Sioux Center. In the fall of 2016, Jeff was diagnosed with early on-set dementia, which forced him into early retirement.

Jeff had been a part of the Maurice Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders for more than 46 years, starting when he was just sixteen years old. He also served for many years on the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad and spent twelve years as a member of the Maurice City Council. In his free time, he enjoyed being outside spending time in his garden and tending to the yard.

He is survived by his wife of more than 43 years, Deb, of Maurice; a son, Jason Vore, of Orange City; three brothers and their wives, Curtis and Lori Vore, of Merrill; Todd and Laurie Vore, of Alton; and Larry and Brenda Vore, of Sioux City; a sister, Kerri Jo Buckley, of Orange City; a step-sister and her husband, Barbara and Leon Vanden Berg, of Silver Springs, Maryland; two brothers-in-law, Robert Vander Plas, and his wife, Debra, of Ireton; and Tim Vander Plas, of Sheldon; a sister-in-law, Wanetta Vander Plas, of Ireton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lois Vore; a step-sister, Kristi Holtdorf; and two brothers-in-law, Rodney Vander Plas and Robert Buckley.

Memorials will be given to the Maurice Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders.
