Mrs. Joan Oldenkamp, age 90, of Orange City, formerly of Hospers, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Saturday, April 9, from 9:30am to 10:30am, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, at 11am, at the church with the Rev. Dr. Brian Janssen officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Hospers Cemetery. The Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers is in charge of arrangements.

Joan was born on May 19, 1931, in Orange City, the daughter of Herman and Ada (Mieras) Dykstra. She was raised on her parents’ farm in rural Orange City and graduated from the Orange City High School in 1949.

On April 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Junior Oldenkamp in Orange City. They made their home in Hospers for more than 68 years, where Joan was a homemaker and seamstress. In June of 2019, they moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. Junior passed away on October 12, 2020, in Orange City, after more than 69 years of marriage, and shortly after Joan moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. In February of this year, she became a resident of the Happy Siesta Care Center.

Mrs. Oldenkamp was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers, where she was involved in various church groups. She and Junior enjoyed traveling south for the winter months and she liked to play cards and games.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Jane and Jerry Beltman, of Hospers; and their family, Kristi (Shane) Fuller, of Norwalk; Mark (Nicole) Beltman, of Orange City; and Brad (LuCinda) Beltman, of Waukee; Nancy and Larry Bosma, of Hospers; and their family, Natalie (Joshua) Sandbulte, of Milford; Mike (Jen) Bosma, of Hospers; and Kevin (Kim) Bosma, of Sioux Center; and Doug and Carolyn Oldenkamp, of Corning; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Jan and Al Kyhl, of Mesa, Arizona.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, George and Shirley Dykstra; and four brothers-in-law, Luke Oldenkamp, and his wife, Jerrie; James Oldenkamp, and his wife, Darlene; Harry Oldenkamp; and Gilbert Oldenkamp, and his wife, Bobbi.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
