Mrs. De Blonk Passes Away At Volga, So. Dak.

Mrs. De Blonk, former resident here, passed away at her home at Volga, S.D., on Saturday, April 12.

Geurtje Rozeboom was born December 22, 1881, at Renkum, Netherlands, On May 13, 1903, she was united in marriage to Mr. De Blonk. In February, 1907, Mr. and Mrs. De Blonk and two children came to America and made their home at Rock Valley. In the year 1917 the family moved to a farm near Hence[?], S.D., and after several years moved to Volga where they have since resided.

Mrs. De Blonk leaves to mourn her passing her husband and 5 children, namely: William and Gertrude of Volga; Gerard and Antonie of Brookings [yes, only 4 children were listed]; an aged mother, three sisters and two brothers all living in the Netherlands; and Peter and Gerard Rozeboom of Michigan. Her father, brother Henry, and sister, Mrs. G. Zyp, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at Volga Tuesday, with Rev. Wm. Mayer in charge. Burial took place at Valley View cemetery Wednesday afternoon.

Among those from away attending the services here were H. L. Olson, Jens and Amanda Torkelson, Clifford Leite, Rev. Wm. Mayer, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. De Blonk of Brookings, Mrs. Raymond Bol of Brookings, and Peter De Blonk of Camp Claiborne, Louisiana.

Parents Willem Rozeboom (1851-1935) and Geertruida Rozeboom Rozeboom (1861-1944). Spouse, Matthys De Blonk (1881-1960, married 1903). Two children listed: Gerard de Blonk (1905-1997) and Matthys William de Blonk (1908-1966). There is a photo of her headstone.
