Translated:
Herman Hofmeyer born 22 Feb 1845, in Zutphen, Ned., is Sunday 24 June. at 5 o'clock, died in his home in Newkirk, aged 89 years and 4 months. About three years ago he underwent surgery, but remained on his feet for a long time, until the defects of the old age got worse and he was forced to take more rest for about half a year.

On 26 March 1873 he was married in Holten, Ned. with Miss Dina Trienen, who now over lives him . The couple came from the Netherlands in Sioux county in 1882, and lived on farms near Alton, Orange city, and Hospers: the last 25 years in Newkirk, but not to rest because Mr. Hofmeyer was not so inclined. He was an elder in the Reformed congregation in Newkirk.

Their marriage was consummated with 13 children, 11 of whom were still alive, Children - . Mrs. John Van Oort or Sheldon, Mrs. Dena Sneltje, Gerrit of Hospers, John of Archer, Mrs. Martin Boersma or Hospers, Dick of Matlock, Mrs. Jake Boersma of Hospers, George of Sanborn, Will of Hospers, Mrs. G. Vander Schaaf of Hospers, Jake of Orange City, The daughter Mrs. Abe Brinkhuis died, being 34 years old, in 1918, and the daughter Nettie 14 years old, died in 1895.

The widow and the children and also many others have suffered a very heavy loss due to the departure of Mr. Herman Hofmeyer. The funeral services are set at 1 o'clock at the death house and at half past 2 in the Reformed Church in Newkirk, under the direction of Rev. Z Roetman.
