Sister Mary Bibiana Remacle,
O.S.F.
Funeral services for Sister Mary Bibiana, O.S.F. (Margaret Remacle) were
held in the chapel at Mount St. Francis this Monday Morning at 9:00 a.m.
with the Reverend F. J. Heles of the Chancery Office officiating at the
Requiem High Mass and also at the burial in Mount Calvary. He was assisted
by Rt. Rev. Msgr. L. Jaeger, chaplain.
In the sanctuary were: Rt. Rev. Msgr. A.R. Thier of Loras College, Rev.
Louis Ernsdorf of Loras; Rev. F. Kaufman of Loras, Rev. G. Most of Loras,
Rev. J. Donohue of Loras, Rev. A. Bumholt of St. Mary's Home and Rev. G.
Mahoney of Blufton.
Sister Mary Bibiana, a member of the order for 58 years, was born in
Hospers, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mary Masuen Remacle, on October 4,
1874. On August 28, 1889 she entered the novitiate and in 1892 she
pronounced her final vows. After finishing her training of the novitiate she
was sent to the parochial schools of the community. In 1909 she was made
superior and directress of St. Mary's Orphan Home, which office she held for
eight years. Sister also held the responsible position of community
procurator. Then she was chosen a councilor to the Mother General for a
number of years. A month ago Sister became seriously ill and was removed to
the infirmary where she died December 23, 1948.
Her parents and one sister preceded her in death. Surviving are her
brother-in-law, Mr. Lewis Jungers, Hospers, Iowa; four nieces: Mrs. Charles
(Sophia) Ansteter, Hospers: Miss Adeline Jungers, Hospers, Iowa; Mrs.
Michael (Marie) Pohen, Hospers; and Mrs. Robert (Marcella) Hogan, Jesup,
Iowa.
