From the Sioux County Capital, December 7, 1939:

BABY DIES

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Vander Well died Saturday morning and burial was made the same day. The baby was born Thanksgiving Day.

From the Alton Democrat, December 8, 1939, Orange City news:

INFANT PASSES AWAY

On Thanksgiving day a baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Vander Wal. The infant lingered only a short while and passed away Friday night. A short service was held Saturday afternoon at the home with Rev. Brouwer in charge.

Her death certificate has Marcia Elaine Van der Wel, 2 days old; born November 30, 1939 in Orange City; parents Marvin Vander Wel, born in Maurice, Iowa, and Margaret De Jong, born in Orange City; died at 3 a.m. December 2, 1939; cause, premature, Mongolian child [now called Down syndrome].

She does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index, but does have a FindaGrave.com page: Marcia Elaine Vander Wel, born 30 Nov 1939 and died 2 Dec 1939 in Orange City; buried in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City. Parents Marvin M. Vander Wel (1914-1994) and Margaret De Jong Vander Wel (1914-2002). There is a photo of her headstone.
