Union County Pioneer Dies

Hans Pearson, one of the early settlers of Union County, passed away at his home near Alcester Tuesday morning, July 27th, from pernicious anemia from which he had been suffering for the past two years. Mr. Pearson, who was well known throughout this entire community, had reached the age of 64 years at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held last Thursday at the Nathanael Lutheran church northeast of Alcester and an interment was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Pearson was one of the most progressive farmers of Union County, always active in farm organizations and a leader in farm development. He won considerable fame as a corn raiser and breeder and he took many prizes with his fine corn. He turned over the management of his farm to his son Martin some years ago and built a comfortable bungalow on the farm where he and his wife enjoyed life in their declining years. He was most highly respected and esteemed by all who knew him and his, death will be mourned by many outside the family circle.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Martin of Alcester and John of Hawarden.
