Na een ongesteldheid van enkele weken overleed de oude heer Smith. Vrijdag heeft de begrafenis plaats gehad van uit de Meth. Kerk. Door Rev. Courtice werd een toepasselijk word gesproken, waarna het stoffelijk overschot naar Ireton werd vervoerd om begraven te worden
Translated:
After a period of several weeks, the old Mr. Smith died. Friday the funeral took place from the Meth. Church. By Rev. Courtice was appropriately spoken, after which the remains were transported to Ireton to be buried.

A family report on ancestry (by others) lists James Smith born 16 Jan 1818 died 1 Mar 1900, parents John Smith 1790-1869 and Jean Bowie, his wife was Agnes Campbell 1826-1868. Their son was John Smith 1850-1920 married to Mary Gregg.
