Kamstra, Mettje ‘Marche’ (Mrs. Rients Sytses ) 1845-1878

Marriage record in the Netherlands Rients Sytses Kamstra born Oosterlittens 21 years of age married Mettje Louws Palsma born Ooterlittens age 20 years on 16 May 1866 at Baarderadeel, Friesland. His parents were Sytse Rientses Kamstra and Trijntje Pieters Siersma and Her parents were Louw Hendriks Palsma and Tietje Pieters Siderius.

In the southwest part of town death cast a gloom over a household on last Thursday morning. It entered the home of Mr. R. S. Kamstra, and robbed him of a wife and his children of a mother, Mrs. Matche Kamstra. Deceased died from that fatal consumption, after a lingering and patient trial. She leaves five small children, whom we believe, will be sent to Holland, where their grandmother resides. The stricken family have the sympathy of all.

Thursday passed away here, after a ___ illness the wife of Mr. Kamstra. Her corpse was ordered on Friday ___ at 2 o'clock in the Kerkhof here.
There were 3 Kamstra children Tillie 14, Lawrence 10, Sytica 3 living in another housechold in 1880. Tillie was a servant living in Holland tsp. Laurence 10 and Sytse age 3 were living in the family of Jakobus Jasper. Could not find Rient in the 1880 census in Iowa.

Research note: According to a family history on line (by others) Rients Sytses Kamstra was born 1 Aug 1844 Franeker, Friesland, Netherlands and died 1926 His wife was Mettje Palsma 1845. Children listed were Louw Lou Kamstra 1869-1960, Pietje 1870, Henry 1870, Neeltje 1874 and Martin 1876-1961.

Note: A death notice was found for a Rients Kamstra who died March 31, 1931 at 87 years buried in Galveston TX is Potter’s field.

1910 Rients Kamstra was living in Galveston TX he came to USA in 1877 born 1845 Holland. He had a wife #3. Belle Kamtra born 1860 Alabama married 9 yrs.
