Deceased Today 8 April 1886 .... unexpectedly after a short-lived, to severe illness , my beloved wife, Annetje Grentenberg, at the age of more than 37 years, leaving me nine children, the eldest barely 12 years and the youngest about 10 weeks old. My dear, so all too young to hear our sad loss.
Deep in my heart horrified at this grievous road of trial, though the Lord in his mercy let me tell the of her that she now lies near my and her savior, in whose bond I lay my fate and life and hope it to keep on doing, till it in his grace serve him forever before his throne.
